Federal government rebate - Please Read Notice Below!
The Australian federal government has recently announced the immediate cessation of the rebate which has been taken up by approximately 1million Australian households. The govt has anounce its intention to re-introduce the rebate in a modifed form in June 2010. Conditions will apply and all the guidelines can be found here.
To qualify, the insulation must be installed by a qualified installer who has registered with the federal government. Allergex is a qualified installation company registered with the federal government and it is our intention to re-register with the government at such a time as they release their new subsidy.
In the meantime, due to stockpiled insulation purchased by us for the government scheme, we are offering our own subsidy to all of our existing customers and new ones who get their roof cavity cleaned at the same time as having new insulation installed.
$600 rebate - The government rebate was $1200. Our Allergex rebate will pay for 50% of the old government rebate, namely $600, saving you a large amount of money. Enquire now as this rebate is limited to our existing stock levels.
Caution Notice - Since the inception of the government rebate there are now a lot of company's who are installing insulation who have little training in or understanding of insulation and insulation installation.
1. We do NOT recommend installing any insulation over old insulation. Your roof cavity should either be free of existing insulation or the old insulation should be removed prior to installing new. There are many reasons for this but the main ones are:
- If new insulation is installed over old, there is a chance of overheating electrical wiring that may be under the insulation. Building codes require wiring to be attached to the ceiling joists but in most instances this is not generally the case so a lot of wiring can be underneath insulation and adding another layer can cause electrical cabling to overheat.
- Adding new insulation over old will raise the height of the insulation to a dangerous level, making it impossible to actually see the joists. This makes it very difficult for anyone to safely move around in the roof space - tradespeople trying to work, householders using the area for storage.
- Modern insulation batts work most effectively when laid flat onto ceiling plaster - NOT when laid on top of old, crumbling inneffective blow in insulation, or even old batts. To maximise the effectivenes of new insulation, make sure it is installed directly onto the ceiling, not on top of existing, dusty, rat infested insulation.
2. We do NOT recommend installing cellulose or blow in insulation except in situations where batts can not be installed due to space restrictions. The unevenness of the product post installation only gets worse over time, leading to areas that may be poorly insulated.
